Assign Supervisor to Task

It would be nice feature to assign Supervisor per task, same as you assign Artist. So there is notification for assigned Supervisor when Artist publishes anything on that task, write notes (questions), etc.

This way, supervisors have to manually find and follow certain tasks, so I guess this would be much neater option.

    Hi Zivan,

    Thanks for the suggestion!

Have you by chance tried assigning the Supervisor *and* the Artist a Task?  (You can assign a Task to multiple assignees.)  If you have tried that already, would love your feedback on why that wasn't ideal.   And any more details on how you would envision this feature working best would be great to hear.

    cheers,
    Nephi

    Hi Nephi,

    Thanks for response!

Yes, basically that could work. But we have some people who are both artists and supervisors, so we wouldn't like having Supervised tasks in My task section. It's a bit of a mix up. (Actually they could have Supervised tasks as a whole new section)
Also, it could be problem for people in coordination, not knowing if person is assigned to Task because he is working on it or just supervising.

Just thinking it would be cleaner to have separated Artists and Supervisor(s) on one Task. Basically, assigning a Supervisor would just mean that he started following a certain task, and there would be visible information who is Supervisor for others.

    Thanks,
    Zivan

    Hi Zivan,

There's also a built in "Cc" field on Tasks that functions much like it sounds. Users input into that field will get notified about changes to the Task, but they are not directly assigned to it. You could repurpose that field to be your Supervisor field so they get notified about Task updates, but the Assigned To field is left to its intended purpose.

    Hi Brandon,

    Thanks for response!

I've tried both setting CC per task or even per whole Shot but there were no notifications for Supervisor user when Artist user posted Note or created Version.

Supervisor got notified when Artist filled CC field in Note entity.

Are there any additional settings I should configure?

    Thanks,
    Zivan

The Supervisor will need to adjust their subscription settings via their Account Settings page, Email Notifications tab. Make sure they check "Subscribe to updates for Tasks Assigned To you or a Group you're in, or for Tasks Cc'd to you or a Group you are in."

I can't figure out why but it's still not working.

Could you open a support ticket? That way you can send us links to specific use cases we can use to troubleshoot.

    Hi Zivan,

Another idea you could try is to have Supervisors create a page that shows them all Tasks where they are listed in the "cc" field.  This could give them a place to isolate and manage everything, as well as an easy way to select all of them and make sure they "follow" them.

I know it's a bit more upkeep, but throwing it out there just in case it helps.

It would be great if there was a more intuitive way to handle this situation.

    hi,

I'm thinking same way with Nephi.

multi assignee are looks fine but it mess up supervisor's [My Task] page.

and other, I can't figure out who is supervisor when I access from api.

maybe there are some way to set group or something to figure out but supervisor is not always supervisor..

I tried "cc" but it not works for me, too.
