Strong banding with OCIO in RV (known OCIO issue)

Hi,

there is an open Issue #394 for OCIO on GitHub that causes strong banding and color differences in OCIO via the GPU path (vs. CPU). This is discussed here:

Would it be feasible to go the CPU path for RV or at least have the option to do so? Would realtime playback still be possible or is the CPU path to slow for that?

This issue is not happening with all configs or LUTs and could not be eliminated totally by adjusting the allocation vars in the config.


As you can see in the screenshot, this is a dealbreaker (in case it's happening). I'm aware of the fact that it is by no means your fault, but having a "fix" until this is solved on the OCIO side would be very helpful.

    Hi Tobias,

    Unfortunately at the moment all OCIO evaluation (as with all RV shader evaluation) is done on the GPU. At this time there is no plan to change that. We will keep you posted if anything changes.
