Non-Project Official Pages

It would be cool to be able to make things which are a cross between Shared Pages and Official Project Pages: Official Non-Project Pages. At the moment I don't think there's no way to set up an official page which shows data from all projects, right? You have to make it a shared personal page, but then it shows up under "My Pages" too and is slightly less than perfect.

That's a great idea Andy.  This is ticket #6568 on our end.  I'm curious, what sort of things would you put in there?

That would be a great place for things like TD Ticket pages (often have show-agnostic tool requests) and my very own Shotgun Ticket page. :)

We have a cross-project Rigging department, and various groups who track global assets that can be reused. So there's tickets and notes for that kind of stuff.

Andy, would those global assets still be linked to a project.  A global project?  Maybe called "library"?  Or would they have no project at all.  Same with the tickets and notes?

If we remove the project requirement on the entities, we mayhave mistakes.  We've run into issues many times where people forgot to set the project on something so it got lost.  That's why we now enforce project on everything (note that we just updated the new entity forms to not allow a user to select "leave unassigned" in the project field).

However, even if these things are linked to project, I can still see the value of having a section with stuff from multiple projects at once.  I've wanted that myself.

For the rigging stuff, I guess you're right that there's no reason we couldn't create a global "Framestore" project or something like that.

I had figured that maybe there were uses for genuinely project-agnostic pages, but when I stop and think of examples, they all seem to be things that could be accomplished using the existing "Admin Pages" section. Things like all event-log entries, regardless of project.

We have another use case for this now, but again related to tickets. There's a cross-project department who handle requests. Each ticket is assigned to specific projects (so we can't just set them up with a "global" project) but they want to see an overview of all outstanding tickets across all shows, since they just handle tickets on a first-come-first-served basis regardless of show.

Hi Andy, this is now near the top of our feature list, so we'll be doing this w/in the next release or two.  I'll update you when I know for sure.  Thanks for the idea/info!

This feature is done and going through QA now.  It will be in our next release in 2 weeks.  Looking forward to hearing what you all think.
