Better implementation of markup language in text editor

Currently Shotgun supports a limited set of the textile markup language (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textile_(markup_language)) in the text editor: https://support.shotgunsoftware.com/entries/44465

For example bold and italics work but links like "Google":http://www.google.com/  don't get translated.

For us this is an issue as we are converting emails to tickets and some of the emails contain 600+ character links which then show up in the ticket instead of just being a hyperlink

So if you also like the textile library to be fully implemented and/or updated to the latest version please give this ticket your vote!
And if you also like me would prefer a more popular markup language like markdown (GitHub, StackOverflow etc.) please leave a comment.

    Hi Folks,

I'm happy to announce that as of today's release of Shotgun 7.2 we now have new and improved markdown support for Notes and other threaded entities (like Tickets). You can see the new formatting guide in the documentation link below.

    https://support.shotgunsoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/219030218-How-do-I-format-text-fields-with-Shotgun-Markdown-

Please note that in 3 months time (September 2017) we'll discontinue rendering the old textile style so we're not maintaining two different text formatting systems. We hope this will be enough time to migrate to the new format.

Yes, please!  I would like to be able to add bullets and have my formatting stay when I copy and paste from Word.  Thank you!

CommonMark is a nice, robust implementation of Markdown: http://commonmark.org

Would love to be able to color the text. It's important for notes to be easy to read so that the important information pops up

This addition was great, however there are still WYSIWYG controls missing on threaded items and areas that allow markup. Something as simple as what is in this comment area is needed. Artists and people in general don't really know markup syntax. Why not show some love with a few buttons please!

It would be very helpful to have a Preview button next to Create Reply for tickets/notes in order to see whether the user's Markdown formatting will appear appropriately before sending the message. At the moment, it can be a little bit of trial and error (reply to a message, see if it looks wrong, edit-update-and try again, etc.)
