I guess a lot of studios are using staging sites to test internal changes or big Shotgun updates before they're released.
It's very easy to confuse the production site with the staging site, especially when both have similar data/projects. It happened a few times that after testing the staging site, I left a tab open in the browser, and later during the day used it to inspect production data or do changes, and then being very confused as to why no tools would see these changes...
It would be good to have a way to identify the staging site visually, something as simple as changing the Banner at the top with a flashy color, so we're always reminded that we're looking at fake data. Attached is an example of how the staging site would look.
Another possibility would be that the Shotgun banner at the top would be replaced by the name of the site, so it would automatically change from "StudioX" to "StudioX-staging" as switching between the two.
