We have a lot of audio stuff in production starting from voice recording to the final mix. Right now all those files are off the Shotgun structure/pipeline, hooked by the custom scripts, custom shotgun fields or (mostly) totally on a manual control.
It would be great to have audio files supported by the 'version' entity, so we could publish, review and comment our audio materials in a (almost) same way as we work with visual content.

It would be as simple as being able to fill an "Audio Version" field on the review-able version. "Play in RV" and "Screening Room" would then be able to know which version of the audio to load for a given review-able version.
I have also thought it could be nice to have this.
A waveform could be displayed in the thumbnail area, and it could have the same trick as for video clips that hovering the mouse pointer along the bottom edge of the thumbnail could play back the audio file from 0% to 100% (i.e. between the left and right edges of the thumbnail). When holding still it would play back at normal speed for - a couple of seconds then fading out? Continuously? (Maybe showing a red vertical line progressing across the waveform thumbnail.)
