events and triggers

is there an event/trigger mechanism inside shot gun that you can access via the API?

please feel free to point me to a video/or wiki/forum page - was looking but couldn't see anything on this subject :)

    I'm interested to learn more about this as well. A good example (or two) would be much appreciated!

    Hey guys, we're working some some docs for this, and will post soon.

    Btw, I moved the parent post from "Documentation -> Shotgun API" to "User Forums -> API", as the documentation area was just meant for shotgun staff to post official things to (but we hadn't disabled public posts), and the user forums are for everyone to post to!

    This may already be in the 2011 roadmap but has their been any thoughts about creating a UI to create/setup event triggers?  Since this can already be done via the API, I'm wondering if a simple interface to do it wouldn't be terribly far off.  I imagine that depending on the type of event, it could get complex pretty quickly, but perhaps simple events triggers (such as one task status changing another) could be achieved with some basic drop down menus.

    Thoughts?

    @Shay

    It's in the works!  We're still preparing our roadmap, which we hope to post soon, but it will most likely include two phases of development on that feature:

    1) A quick tool for setting up Status field triggers on Tasks

    2) A more advanced tool for setting up automated workflows between events throughout the system.

    We'll be sure to update this thread as we make progress.  In the meantime, the API remains the best solution for creating event-driven triggers.
