Is "Project" the only metaphor in town...?

I am seeing that everything must be associated with a Project to be created.

I am seeing that as a limitation.

If I want to create a thing called show- it can have several projects associated UNDER the entity Show.

For example-

Show- ThrillBillies

Project(s): Episode #12, 13,...n

Assets- Available to all projects

Previous Episodes

New Show Ideas

New Talent Search

etc.

thots?

thanks

"Since we are a predominately episodic drive studio we handle this at an episode level.  Technically shotgun doesn't have episodes but we have retooled scenes to accommodate episodes.  "

We just broke down and needed to add scenes.

We sometimes have multiple TV Spots or Demo Animations under one project so we've just added scenes and created an entity field in sequences called "Scene".

So how we would break it out would be:

    Project: T-Mobile G1 Demos
    Scene: One Touch Search
Seq: 100 (With Scene "entity field" linked to OTS)
Shot: 100_010 (Linked to 100 through
    Element: Screen-Mask01
    Version: 10
       - File Path

We've also got several CustomEntities that you can configure and rename to track whatever you like. So if you didn't want to use Scene for example, you could use CustomEntity01 and rename it "Episode". But generally the suggestions above and the discussion Romey from Zoic has put forth are good ones.

We're anxious to hear if our current entity types are lacking for a specific industry. CustomEntities were created initially to help fill these voids and in the future we're planning to allow you to be able to create your own entity types on the fly. But until we get there, feel free to share your thoughts. We've been learning great stuff from you guys.
