storing the results and/or summaries of queries in a field

This topic may have been covered elsewhere in the docs, but I didn't find anything in a quick search. Is it possible to store the results and/or the summary of a query,  in a field? Attached is an example of a project dash board page. It is open to the 'Shots by Status' tab. We filter shots for current project and group by status. This gives us a display summary in the tab. I was wondering how to store these statuses (sp?) in a field owned by the project (currently I just put the values in manually). Is this a currently supported feature, or a concept that is being considered? Workflow wise I would imagine when you click on the pencil next to a field, the query builder ui would pop up..

Thanks,

cl

    Hey Cam,

This is definitely something we're thinking about. We've got a ticket on our plate to allow for user-defined calculated fields that would allow you to setup fields that can run queries on other fields. There's an extensive conversation going on about it here https://shotgunsoftware.zendesk.com/forums/31278/entries/45187 and we'd love to get your thoughts as well.

One particular question that is lingering is whether you would then expect to be able to query on the calculated fields or not. This would affect how we implement them on our end.

Your use case is a great one and we've got it listed in our internal ticket for this. So fly over to the other thread and unleash your ideas on us!

    cheers,
    kp
