Launching External Applications- example from old wiki

Hi guys,

 

We followed the example from the old wiki and it works great. One minor issue is every time we click on a link to our custom protocol handler firefox spawns an extra blank page or tab. Do you have any tips for disabling this behavior? My feeling is it is more firefox than shotgun. Strangely it used to happen all the time and now it only happens some of the time. Internally we have a few ideas, but thought people here may have encountered the same issue and perhaps solved it (firefox 3.0 on linux).

  Thanks to Isaac for the tip.

  In the list view for versions, right click over the QT field. Configure field, toggle 'launch in new window' off.

  We are doing custom protocol handlers a bit.  We are a windows shop.  Have had some difficulty deploying protocol handlers and registering them to non admin accounts.  Has anyone had any similar issues?

  Hi,

  Is there a link to that example from the old wiki? Because I can't find it on the docs.

  We are new to SG and I'm really interested on this.

  Hello everyone,

  Sorry for the delay on getting these docs over to the new doc site.  I just escalated the priority of that project for our doc team to focus on after we're done with the new 1.11 docs this week.  We also have built some cross-platform custom protocols lately and will update the docs with our new know-how.  In the meantime, here are pdf versions of the old docs (sorry the formatting is so lame!):
