Is there a way to mark a date as a non-working day - ie public holidays, or the days between Christmas and New Year - so that the task scheduling will automatically extend around it, as it currently does with weekends? I can't at the moment find anything in the docs about it, but it would be very useful to be able to do.

There isn't anything currently in Shotgun that allows this as of v1.12. We do have it on the roadmap for this year to be able to better define working days in order to handle holidays, vacation/sick days, extended work weeks, etc. If you have specific thoughts on the matter, please share them in our Feature Request forum ticket for this at https://support.shotgunsoftware.com/entries/29080-sceduling-weekend-tasks
