Is there any way that we can turn off the duration field or it's calculation on the start and end date? Short of deleting it all-together? :) Our task durations are nearly impossible to predict, so we don't use it for that, and it is extremely annoying to have it recalculate the start and end dates whenever I need to change those. If I enter in a start and end date for a task, it creates a fixed duration. Then if I want to change the start date, it automatically pushes out the end date based on the duration, and I don't want it to do that! I always want to tell it when the task starts, and when it ends. And no duration nonsese! So basically, disable the dependency between the duration and the start and end dates. Can't find a way to do it with permissions or fields, any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

There isn't a way to disable the auto-calculations at the moment, but we do have clients who are creating their own date fields when they want more control over how these fields behave. Are you scheduling on the gantt? One of the main reasons we do the auto-calculation is because we're following conventions from other scheduling apps such as MS Project and OmniPlan. We have have missed use cases like yours, so if you think adding extra fields won't work well, let me know and we can talk through a feature request.
