How to group multiple versions together?

Hello! Usually when the 3d department delivers something to comp there is more than one image sequence. For instance maybe a beauty pass, a aov pass, and a couple rgb lighting passes. Currently we set the status to 'approved' on each of these passes individually so that the comper can grab them. Is there a way to link all of the versions together with a single status?

Here are some ideas I had. Maybe a 'sub-version' that is attatched to a single version (the parent version). So then the parent version would get approved and all of the sub-versions would be approved as well.

Maybe a playlist for each 3d delivery? So then the playlist would be set to approved and then all of the versions inside would be approved.

Is there a way of linking versions together that I am not thinking of? How have other studios done this?

Hi Robin, you can link Versions to Versions by creating a multi-entity Version field on Versions.  I also see studios use Elements to group Versions together.  If your studio thinks about the comp deliverable as a collection of renders, you may want to use the Element entity to track the deliverable, then use Versions to represent each render of the Element (i.e. Element will be in the "Link" field of the Version).  Think that'd work for you guys?
