Assets within sets

Hi!

Maybe this has been answered before, but how do you work with sets? Or maybe the question is how do you work with assets that have their own assets?

We are making a project and there is a set that contains several assets, and those assets have to be rigged and modeled separately, they are not set dressing only.  Since a set is an asset as well... how should I proceed? What came to my mind was to create the basic set and the reference all the assets I need, so when I reference the set, the reference has all the props referenced as well. But when updating, you would have to open the set asset and update all the references... so you would update twice!

Hope you guys can help me :)

    Hi Sant,

Great question! The Asset entity has a pair of fields to help track a scenario such as this. Those fields are "Parent Asset" and "Sub Assets." These are bi-directional fields, meaning when you populate one, the data on the reciprocal Asset will automatically be populated.

Using these fields you can denote all the Assets which comprise an entire set. In the screenshot below you can see how we're tracking all the Assets which make up the Forest 2 set.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.
