Working with Mari

I've been trying to get it going and ran into some issues.  Running the latest tk-mari app, and I can start up Mari from the browser just fine, shot/step or asset/step.  The Shotgun menu shows up, but the only entries are Current Work Area(and the submenus below that), and New Project.  I note in your example video you have a more filled out, typical menu set, with the shotgun file browser, so something is missing.  New Project does nothing at all, although the Jump to Shotgun and Jump to Folders works fine, which suggests the boot code has loaded.

Running from shell doesn't show anything apart from 

[            mriapplication.cpp:788 ] : Mari user data directory set to 'C:\Users\jcoldrick\.mari'

 

Running Win 7/64, Mari 2.6v3.

Any suggestions?

  Hi John,

  Sorry for the delay getting back to you!

  Did you manage to get the Mari integration working?

  In addition to installing the Mari engine and Project Manager app, you will also need (as a minimum) the new Loader app which is used by the Project Manager for project creation in Mari.

  The File Manager app is only used for switching work area (there is no 'work file' in Mari) so it also needs to be configured in a very specific way.

  If you haven't done so already, I'd suggest taking a look at our default config which now includes the Mari integration for the asset_step environment.  If you copy this you may also need some new icons which can be found here and the Multi-publish configuration for Maya which includes the Alembic cache export for Mari - this can be found here.

  Our recommended way to see how we've put it together would be to create a test project in Shotgun and initialise Toolkit for it using the default configuration - you'll then have a reference for how to integrate it into your actual projects.

  I'm having problems with Mari integration as well. I've installed using the tank command as explained on this page: https://support.shotgunsoftware.com/entries/95443957

  I've also updated all of the apps. However I'm still not seeing Mari as an option for launching from the browser, nor does it show up in Shotgun desktop. I've looked through all the configuration files and it looks like everything should be working.

  Any idea what I may be missing?

  Hi Ben,

  It sounds like you are missing the application launchers for Mari in the various environments.  We provide an app (tk-multi-launchapp) which is designed specifically to launch form the shell/shotgun/desktop engines but you will need to add it to your configuration.

  Take a look at how it's set up in our default config.  First, we define the configuration needed to launch Mari:

  Sorry for the delay - silly deliverables - just wanted to let you guys know I got Mari working fine!  Glad you chose to stay out of the way of Mari's rather fragile project structure and let it work locally but export over the network...
