Nuke Studio support

Hey guys,

Just a quick question and probably way to early, but I'm gonna try anyway.

Are there plans for Nuke Studio support with the Toolkit? Or will the existing Hiero functionality work?

We've been testing the beta and it looks super promising.

Kind regards,

Yep I got the same question. We are setting up the shotgun tools right now and we would like to setup the tools for nuke studio. (we don't want to setup twice)

Nuke Studio has been released and at first look seems like things will work mostly fine with the current Nuke engine. We have also heard from some users that they're using it successfully. However, we're still doing QA on it so it's still possible there may be some quirks. We'll be tacking that in the next sprint and will update our info when it's supported.

The Hiero workflow however does not currently work with Nuke Studio on it's own. We need to do some design work to try and figure out the best way to support Hiero and Nuke together inside Nuke Studio. This isn't part of the QA work we're doing in the next sprint. We don't have an ETA just yet but it is on the radar.

We are on the beginning of new project and we would like to use Nuke Studio as well and the integration with Shotgun would be great- especially in the Hiero workflow. Looking forward to any new details about this integration. Or is it better to start with Hiero and then move to Nuke Studio?

@michal At this point, since we don't have any ETA for official support of Nuke Studio, I'd say you'll be better off starting with the existing Hiero integration. As mentioned previously, the Nuke engine part of Nuke Studio is mostly fine, but I don't know when we'll have updates on getting the Hiero engine working with Nuke Studio. It's kind of a new situation in the Toolkit paradigm where there's essentially 2 engines in a single DCC. Something that won't work nicely out of the box, so we have some design work to do.

Any updates Nuke Studio intergration. We will really like to use Shotgun Export tool for a new production that we are starting. We still have hack our current nuke file to work with Heiro so that we can export our shots information to shotgun.

@pritish We don't have any update to give at this point. Unfortunately, we don't expect to see this in our roadmap this year.

@kp What is your roadmap to shot ingestion? Smoke?

I hoped shotgun would stay business to business. But it looks like it's gonna ride on the Autodesk family? A clear roadmap for shot ingestion would be nice +1

Definitely yes: nuke studio used for shot ingestion is a major step! So +1 for this.

Yeap me too. Without shot ingestion support - this is a dead end for us. We as a school don't have access to flame and Hiereo is failing to support new image formats.

Any update on this topic? (Nuke Studio v9 + Shotgun Pipeline Toolkit)

another +1 (Nuke Studio v9 + shot ingestion support) because, even if flame integration is great and needed, the next step is nuke studio and the need for it grows with time!

    Hey guys!

Quick update: We have just started work this week on upgrading our hiero and nuke engines to support the new nuke studio/hiero setup. It will potentially require some larger changes in Toolkit, so our first step is to try to figure out the right approach. That's what we are doing right now. Once we have a strategy in place, we'll start implementation and then we can also share a more definite time line!

    Thanks for your patience!

Great to have your feedback: thanks for your work on that!

Just wanted to let you know that just enabling the Hiero integration on Nuke 9 would help alot. Nuke Studio is for us just a bonus, its the shot ingestion pipeline from Hiero that is first and foremost needed at our facility.

Yes yes, exactly the same here !

Us too! Hiero 9.07 support is needed for us to ingest shots.

Even basic shot creation w/ timecode and thumbnails would be a nice start.

Quick update: We are doing final rounds of testing on this right now and expect to release it early next week!

    Hi Manne,

    Hi Manne,

Is this the release that you are talking about? (https://support.shotgunsoftware.com/entries/97955048-How-to-upgrade-to-using-the-tk-nuke-engine-for-Hiero-Nuke-and-Nuke-Studio)

If so are there any further releases of Studio coming next week?  (I couldn't get toolkit to run in studio, and we don't use hiero)

    Thanks,

    Hi David!

Yes, this is the Hiero/Nuke 9.0v7 support. It ended up being a complex change in order to correspond to the fairly substantial underlying structural changes in nuke studio. If you are having any problems, please email the details to support@shotgunsoftware.com and we'll take a closer look.

The changes just released means that we support nuke and hiero, when run in their separate modes.

As for nuke studio, e.g when you are essentially using both nuke and hiero at the same time, we are currently working an implementation. This is an interesting one for Toolkit because there are multiple things going on at the same time - one context and engine to represent hiero and the project time line and one context and engine session to represent for example a nuke file that has been loaded. We are looking at this right now and we hope we'll have something up and running soon!

    Thanks!
