    Hi,

Is this in the work at Shogun HQ? Has anybody build a Katana engine yet?
We would be super interested to contribute.

    Cheers

    Hi Julien!

We aren't actively working on a Katana engine right now, but I know that there has been work going on in the community to build one. Let me see if I can get you hooked up :)

Hi all, Light Chaser Animation has been kind enough to share the Katana engine they've written and the Foundry has even kicked in some basic hook implementations.  You can find it here:
    https://github.com/robblau/tk-katana

This is a community contribution, so while we can't vouch for it and we're not testing against it, we'll answer any questions about it we can.

A big thanks to Ying Jie "Jerry" Kong at Light Chaser and Sam Saxon at The Foundry for their work on this one.

ERROR: Could not get list of tags for
    https://github.com/robblau/tk-katana.git: Command 'git rev-list --tags
    --max-count=1' returned non-zero exit status 129

    Please advice.

    Thank you

    Hello,

We've built a Katana engine for our studio -- and we've been developing/maintaining it for over a year now. Since Katana 3.1, Katana has moved to Qt5. We can no longer use the sgtk.platform.qt to map pyside code to Qt5.

What are there near-future plans to support Pyside-to-Qt5 mapping. Anybody know if this has been done before? (I feel like somebody must have)

I'm also wondering if there is going to be official support for a Katana engine. If so what is the timeframe?

I'm wondering whether to spend time developing this or if it'll end up being replaced in the near future.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Felipe,

The Qt abstraction in tk-core supports PySide2, and has dating back to 2016 with the v0.18.24 release of tk-core. You can find documentation concerning using Qt from sgtk.platform.qt here, which might help. As stated in the docs linked, feel free to reach out to our support team with any problems you might run into.
