rvio and h264

Hi all -

I'm using rvio on a 64-bit ubuntu server install. I'm trying to encode an h.264 quicktime with this command:

rvio in.#.dpx -o out.mov -codec ffmpeg_h264

which produces this output:

WARNING: quicktime codecs: quicktime_encode_video_stub called
WARNING: quicktime codecs: quicktime_encode_video_stub called
ERROR: MovieOQT: quicktime encode failed at frame 1001

I haven't been able to find a solution online or in the rv docs. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

- brian

EDIT: To answer my own question (which was answered my RV support, thanks guys), rvio doesn't encode h.264 yet. So, I'll be trying to get some other temporary solution working, maybe with some combination of ffmpeg/x264. Will post here if I figure it out.

    This might be usefull :

Personally I would love to have ffmpeg support on all platforms/editions of RV. IMHO is it good at creating a consisting output compared to the constantly changing quicktime library.

We're investigating this and some other solutions and formats as well.

    Hi,

isn't there an update on this? I'm also getting that error message, so it's still not possible using h264 codec (on linux)?

    Thanks,

EDIT: as of RV 3.10.11 (March 2011), RV supports H264 encoding via the x264 encoder;  use "-codec x264".

    Gabor,

We don't yet support h.264 encoding on Linux. RV can play these movies, but RVIO can't write them out.

We have this on our roadmap but we have not implemented it yet. There are potentially some licenseing issues that we need to address.

We don't currently have a schedule for this, so I don't want to raise expectations. But we do hope to make it happen.

    Cheers,

    Seth
