Maya integration ( audio )

Hello

i've got maya launching Rv to playback a playblast ( i'm on kubiuntu 64bit ) and it works great.

Now what i really need is to get Rv loading the audio as well.
For some reasons the audio that i've imported into maya and using in my maya scene doesn't go through dhe playblast

so the Rv playback is "mute".

I've set the Option flags in maya options as usual " %f %s-%e

maybe i should add some other flags to tell Rv to load the audio as well?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Hi Alvise,

I'm sorry, but we're pretty ignorant about how to setup RV for use with maya.  We're going to try to rectify that soon, but meanwhile maybe someone else can help on the forums ?   Or we can at least say that in general, if the audio is not included in the media (as in a quicktime movie), it needs to be presented to RV on the command line as a "layer" in the source, so if "foo.wav" is the audio for the "foo.#.jpg sequence" the appropriate command line would be:

    rv [ foo.#.jpg foo.wav ]

    Hope that helps,

    Alan

Hello Alan and thanks for you rreply.

I did try rv [ foo.#.jpg foo.wav ] command but it seems like it first plays the image sequence, then it plays the audio.wav

rather than playng audio+video togheter. Am i missing something, i guess i do.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Alvise,

Just to be clear, the "[" and "]" above must be literally present on the command line (and surrounded by spaces.  A command to play the images and then the audio would look like

    rv foo.#.jpg foo.wav

Maybe the thing to do is get this worked out without Maya.  Does the "[ ]" syntax work as expected when you type it yourself on the command line ?

    Hi Alvise,

We have seen some playblast movies get created with a link to the audio inside the resulting playblast quicktime movie rather than embedding the audio. If that is what is happening then RV will not be able to locate the audio and you will have "mute" playback. I do not know what options Maya has for audio output in playblasts, but I would start there.

Also I realize this post is a bit old. Have you tried using the Maya integration package and support we added to RV earlier this year?

    Thanks,

    Jon
