Hello, I am testing RV and I am having problems when using a wacom tablet. I have tried the Bamboo Fun and Bamboo Pen and Touch Series with no success. Clicking on the interface leads to inconsistent results, not to mention that I cannot annotate using the pen tablet (all it draws are straight lines). Is there a solution to this issue, or is there no support for pen tablets?

Jon Morley Official comment That is great news about the 7.1.0 release guys!
Thank you all for the feedback that helped narrow down the issue. Please let us know if you see anything else come up moving forward.
Thanks,

Jon Morley Hi Genaro,
Some tablets seem to work better with RV than others. We rely on the input management through Qt and not all tablets seem to work the same. If you want to maintain basic functionality then I suggest you enable "Treat Stylus Events as Mouse Events" in the General tab of RV's preferences.
Please let me know if that does not work for you.
Thank you.

Genaro Rocha Hey Jon, thank you very much for your answer, enabling the stylus events as mouse events makes RV usable with the tablet. I will try with other tablet models to see which one will fully work with RV. Thanks!

Jon Morley Hi Genaro,
Can you please share with me which version of RV you are using and on which platform?
Can you please go into more detail about the issues you were originally seeing?
Can you explain what you see with that enabled? What do you mean by unusable?
Thank you.

Genaro Rocha Oh no, I said "usable" hehe. After doing what you said and enabling the stylus events as mouse events, everything worked fine with the pen tablet

Jon Morley Oh I am sorry! I miss read that. I am glad that helps.
Thanks!

Poda I am currently using RV 4.0.11 on a Microsoft Surface Pro (1) and also experienced trouble using a stylus (my primary input device). I could not get Swipes to work properly in Stacked Mode nor could I draw Annotations. As soon as I activated "Treat Stylus Events as Mouse Events" Swipes and Annotations worked fine via stylus. Thank you Jon for the fix and Genaro, thanks for posting the problem.

Jon Morley Hi Poda,
I am glad that worked for you. Not all input devices are received the same way by Qt. Thank you for the report!
Thanks,

Willem-Jan van Rootselaar Hi Jon,
We have the same issue only we need the pressure sensitive and you lose it with the "Treat Stylus Events as Mouse Events" mode. A work around I found is if you select a menu and leave the menu open the pressure sensitivity works and the cursor doesn't get stuck. This is not a pretty workaround. With this in mind should it not be easy to have a virtual button to do the same when the pen is hovering the movie zone and disable this virtual button when it's on the menu part of RV?
I hope this is clear. Please contact me

Jon Morley Hi Willem-Jan,
I am not sure I understand your workaround. Could you please make a cellphone video of what you are describing and send that to us? Please include the platform you are using as well as the version of RV.
Thanks,
Jon -
Peter Nepp Hi Jon,
we could reproduce the workaround described by Willem-Jan. It's a kind of weird, but maybe you can figure out what's going on this way. I also attached some screenshots to visualize it. I hope it helps.
We tested it on Windows 7 64bit with RV 6.2.7 and RV 7.0 Beta. Wacom Intous 5 Driver Version: 6.3.13w3
Thank you very much,
Peter -
Willem-Jan van Rootselaar 7.1 solved the issue for me! I hope it does for you too

Peter Nepp Yeah, it did for me too. Thanks for fixing.
