Error on RV 4.0 Windows 7 installation

During installation on a Windows 7 system, I'm getting the following error:

Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirements to install this software.  The following blocking issues must e resolved before you can install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable Setup software package.

Please resolve the following:
A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

I'm not sure how to resolve the fact that my system has a newer version of C++ on it.

If I close that window, then the installation continues and resolves.  So, I don't know if this error can be ignored or not.

However, a couple odd things are happening:

1)  I can't get Windows to recognize RV as the default program to open images (that's what I had in 3)
and
2)  If I dragNdrop a file into RV, it doesn't recognize it as a sequence.  Again, different behavior than the previous version.

I'm not sure if the installation error and the functionality are tied together.

Any insight would be terrific.

Thanks!

    Hi Todd,

You are correct about the "Redistributable". You can safely ignore that error. Microsoft is unnecessarily scary about that.

    1) You will find a snippet of registry code that we include with every install of RV in the etc directory of your install. The file is called openwith.reg. It will require you to edit it to reflect the exact location of your install and version of RV as well as the file types you wish to open. After that you should be able to double click the file and install it into the registry. I presume with Administrator privileges.

    2) In order to restore that type of drag and drop behavior you will need to open RV's preferences and enable the "Sequence From File" package on the Packages tab. Please try that.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Fantastic Jon,

Both solutions worked like a charm.
