We are trying to debug the color range being sent to the SDI output. When viewing in our screening room, the screen is being measured as displaying legal instead of extended. Is there a way to display the stats of what RV is sending to the SDI card? We are running on a Windows 8 workstation.

Hi Dan,
RVSDI scales to the "Full" range of the SDI spec. You can change the range response by setting the RV_SDI_FORCE_RANGE environment variable to SMPTE video range by setting the variable to "VIDEO" or to the complete range by setting the variable to "COMPLETE".
To set the environment variable for testing use cmd.exe. Then type:
set RV_SDI_FORCE_RANGE=COMPLETE
Then launch rvsdi.exe from the same cmd.exe window. Please let me know if that works for you.

I did some testing. I looks like changing the environment variable only effects the image when outputting YCrCB. The imagery is visibly different and the color transformation matrix and the rv_sdi_force_range is output to the terminal. I don't see these changes when outputting RGB. Is this the expected behavior.
I also have a question. Is the color change a matrix that is applied or an actual setting in the hardware of the display card.
We have narrowed it down to a mac with a Aja Kona card displaying images with a different extended/legal value than a PC with a Nvidia card. Yes I know different hardware, etc., but have you heard of anything similar?

For the record, the environment variables that Jon mentions are only relevant to the Nvidia SDI implementation (not AJA or Blackmagic).
