Is it possible to assign a timeline color for each source?

We're writing a RV plugin which loads the current state of a sequence, so it may contain shots from animatic, animation, layout, compo, etc.

Since we use several in-house tools which associate a color to a shot's origin, we'd like to be able to use these colors in the RV timeline.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Chema

    Hi Chema,

Do you mean where the timeline displays the alternating grey shot boundaries down on the timeline? If so that is an interesting feature request. Please tell us more.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Hi Jon.

Yes that's exactly what I mean. This way reviewers can just jump to certain 'areas of interest' at a glance. Other uses would be marking just 'final' regions or regions of a specific origin. We also use magenta or any other eye-damaging color to flag non-existant shots.

There's not really much more to it.

I'm glad someone found this feature interesting too :)

    Thanks.

    Hi Chema,

I took a stab at adding this over the weekend. We are not sure if this is what we will/would release but I wanted to share it with you to solicit feedback. To use this please follow these steps:

    1) Download a fresh local copy of RV for testing

    2) Download the attached (linked below) timeline.mu file

    3) Copy aside the distributed timeline.mu from the plugins/Mu directory of your freshly downloaded RV install

    4) Move the one saved from here into the plugins/Mu directory

    3) Open the attached (linked below) timeline_colors.rv session file in RV

    5) Right click on the timeline to bring up the context menu

    6) Select Configure -> "Use Custom Source Coloring" (If you don't see this option then you haven't loaded the correct timeline.mu. Start over from step 2)

Please tell me if this is the kind of thing you had in mind.

    Thanks,
    Jon

The attached files were stripped in the migration. Here they are again.
