We want to use RV in our screening room using our Christie projector but needs SDI support. Any plans on this?

    Hey Shervin,

We are looking the requirements for this now. We may add an SDI option for RV soon. This seems like a very useful application for RV. Do you need dual SDI for stereo?

    Cheers,

    Hey Seth,

Yea, we are working on a stereo show currently and would require Dual SDI for stereo work. We are currently using Framecycler DDS, only cause of its SDI support, but i like RV much better ;)

    Hey Seth

We are pretty interested in this thread too - as we are proposing to upgrade our review theaters (Animal Logic)  to be stereo capable and sdi seems the way to go.

What might the time frame be for working on this kind of hardware support?

    Hi Seth,

We are looking at setting an intermediate viewing station and as Shervin said SDI support will be very useful.  We can get the playback out of Framecycler DDS but it isn't enjoyable to use.  This would mean we could use shotgun to set up playlists

    many thanks

    hi,

sdi support would be very cool! we use a blackmagic hd extreme card to watch shots directly out of nuke on a control monitor. but rv would be much more comfortable for daily sessions.

Any word on when this will be implemented?

We're about to gear up for a big stereo show and would love to be able to use SDI for stereo theatre reviews!

    Hi Bram,

Sorry for the delay, we kind of lost track of this thread.  The SDI work is in progress, and if all goes well we're hoping for a beta version in January or February.  Note that this first version will support only Nvidia cards, only under Linux.

    Cheers,

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

I was wondering how this is progressing?  We can setup a linux box for testing with an NVidia 5600 with a SDI daughter card.  We'd like to test stereo playback to our NEC projector.

    thanks,

    tony

    Hi Tony,

SDI work is going well.  We still have plenty to do (and are distracted at the moment trying to get 3.10.11 out), but if you want to test a very early build when it's ready, drop us a note at support@tweaksoftware.zendesk.com.

    Cheers,

    Hello everyone,

So you may have noticed the news yesterday. We announced RV SDI a new product from Tweak that will be shown at NAB 2011 in Las Vegas. RV SDI uses the Nvidia SDI hardware and adds a presentation workflow to RV called Presenation Mode. It officially in Beta testing now on Linux and Windows. It will be released right after NAB on Linux and maybe a bit later on Windows. Please let us know if you are interested and would like to try it out. There's a lot more information on the Tweak website here.

    Cheers,

    Follow up:

At IBC we announced support for the AJA Kona3G card with the new AMD peer-to-peer API. The latest version of rvsdi (3.12.11) has a beta of this. We are working on finalizing that code and adding support for nvidia + AJA ASAP.

Are there plans to support any other SDI hardware aside from Nvidia SDI and AJA Kona?

Specifically, I'm thinking DVS Centaurus or Atomix LT.

Perhaps with the use of Nvidia GPUDirect for Video?

    Hey Bram,

No plans yet, but we are definitely interested in learning what hardware users want to use.

What features would you use in the DVS cards that Nvidia and AJA don't support?

    Cheers,

    Seth

We have this hardware established with other software (DI suite) and would like to use RV on these very same machines as they are SAN attached in order to avoid the need for a whole new machine and potentially more SAN license etc etc.

So it's not so much the features of the cards we are after, just the flexibility.
