One of the things we do on features now is send DCP work in progress files for screening. It would be awesome if you could add DCP playback... Thanks.
best regards
Mike

DCP playback would be a great add.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Mike and Paul,
Do you think you could send us a small but representative sample? I will take a look at what it would take to support them.
Thanks,
Jon
Hi Jon,
I could send you an unlicensed trailer, but it's about 3GB in size... How would you like me to send it to you? I was afraid uploading it here might take too long. Do you have an FTP server?
Thanks,
Paul
Wowzers Paul!
Thank you for posting that. I have saved a local copy. I will look it over and see what is involved in supporting this format. I can't make any promises about getting it supported but having a sample will be very helpful! That was a quick turnaround.
Thanks,
Jon
Actually, I posted it to our website. You can download it here:
http://www.kinowerks.com/AugustOsageTrailer.tar
There are three files in the tar:
1) AugustOsage_TLR-2_F_EN-XX_US-GB_51-HI_2K_WC_20130916_TDC_INT_OV_01.mxf
2) AugustOsage_TLR-2_F_EN-XX_US-GB_51-HI_2K_WC_20130916_TDC_INT_OV_audio_01.mxf
3) CPL_AugustOsage_TLR-2_F_EN-XX_US-GB_51-HI_2K_WC_20130916_TDC_INT_OV.xml
Hi Chris,
It does sound useful and it certainly _looks_ doable. The main issue is the media is stored in MXF files in a way in which you cannot programmatically discover the format/codec connection with our reader plugin as it currently works. This task appears very similar to getting Avid generated MXF files to read correctly in RV as well. Forcing our reader to try finding streams when the container is MXF and unparsable by ffmpeg is something we plan to address, but the work is not yet scheduled. Additionally in the DCP case there may need to be a sibling package to make use of the data in the accompanying XML file.
Thanks,
Jon
Hi Paul,
The sample you sent me (as well as most Avid generated MXF files) now play for me in RV-6. Not sure if this is still a path you are pursuing but I wanted to update the thread for those that follow.
Normal DCP packages are encrypted with some type of DRM so these unencrypted samples you gave me are hardly representative of a real world workflow. Nevertheless I wanted to update the record.
Thanks,
Jon
