Multiple sources in timeline

It would be great to have a more robust timeline where each of my sources are represented in a stacked fashion.

The user could interactively adjust in/out points for multiple sources, and (clicking visibility buttons per source) choose which sources contribute to the layout/sequence/stack.

A good example would be PDplayer (image attached).. Also see After Effects.
